Abstract

nterventional catheter_based therapy has been revolutionized by the wide spread use of coronary stenting . Side branches occlusion is a well known
con1plication of coronary artery stenting .

This study was performed to detect fate of side branches in stented coronary segtnents using coil & non coil stent designs . Also , to compare between the two designs regarding this issue .

The study included 30 patients who underwent successful elective coronary stenting , All patients had syn1ptmnatic coronary heart disease and suitable for Percautaneous Iransluminal Coronary Angioplasty ( PTCA ) and stenting after it . ln 15 patients 15 coil stents were used electively , in the other 15 patients 15 non_coil stents were used electively . All patients were subjected to full history taking , clinical examination , resting 12 leads_electrocardiogratn as a base line & to compare with post procedural changes , Anti_platlets regimen , Angiographic and side branches analysis & the following items were analyzed ( site of lesion , type of lesion , size of reference vessel , percent diatneter stenosis , tninimal luminal diameter before PTCA - before & after stenting , number and size of side branches before PICA - before & after stenting , ostial stenosis of side branches before PICA - before & after stenting and TIM!flow of side branches before PTCA - before & after stenting )
