Early Changes In Semen Parameters Post Varicocelectomy

Abstract

SUMMARY
A
varicocele is abnormal dilatation and tortuosity of veins of the pampiniform plexus that drain the testis. Varicocele is found in approximately 15% of the general population, 35% of men with primary infertility, and 75% to 81% of men with secondary infertility.
Varicocele is the most common treatable condition in men with infertility. Although varicocele is also detected in the general population it is more common in infertile men and treatment can be of benefit for some infertile couples. Increased scrotal temperature, reflux of metabolites from the kidney and adrenal gland, decreased volume of blood flow, and anoxia are the supposed mechanisms.
Testicular varicose veins cause reduction in function and number of the testicular cells which is reflected as an altered sperm parameter. Surgical treatment is indicated in men with varicocele when the semen analysis shows oligospermia, asthenospermia, teratospermia, or coexistence of these abnormalities.
It is also known that several patients with clinical varicoceles have isolated abnormalities
