Abstract


Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a general term describing endometritis, salpingitis, tuboovarian abscess, or pelvic peritonitis. Inflammation of these structures results from an ascending cervical infection, most commonly with sexually transmitted pathogens as: Neisseria gonorrhea and Chlamydia trachomatis (Ness, eta/, 1997).



Infertility, ectopic pregnancy and cronich pelvic are the most common serious outcome of salpingitis. In the United States, tubal damage after acute sa lpingitis is considered responsible for 25-35% of female infertility. (Escltenbach M.,et a/, 1997)
