Abstract


Premarital care (PMC) is one of the most important strategies for prevention of genetic disorders, congenitalanomalies and several medical, psychosocial marital problems.Most individuals are not fully aware of the exact condition of their health, a person may look healthy but he/she may have undetected health problems or be a silent carrier of infectious or hereditary diseases (Mitwally et al., 2012).
Nowadays premarital counseling and examination are of great importance in Egypt because of high prevalence of consanguineous marriages (37.9%) and increasing in the number of children affected with genetic diseases (Shawky et al., 2011).
Aim of the study:
The aim of the study is to provide a health promotion program about premarital care for the female students living in Ain Shams University Hostel through the following:
1. Assess knowledge of the university female students regarding premarital care.
2. Assess attitude of the university female students regarding premarital care.
3. Identify healthy practices of the university female students regarding premarital care.
