APPLICATION OF OIL TESTS AS CONDITIONAL lVlONITORING OF CONSTRUCTIONAL EQUIPMENT

MOHAMED NOUR EL-DEIN SALEM;

Abstract

The main purpose of this dissertation is to modify the PM Scheme for desiel engines test results and some activities. Monitoring of engine oil test results during the application of PM Scheme will give a good chance for the prediction of possible sources of malfunctioning. Necessary corrections can be made before failure by the aid of fault tree analysis, data bases and check lists. Savings occurred due to prolonged period of use of engine oil and to the avoidance of malfunctioning before failure. This investigation was applied to two construction companies in Egypt and in Saudi Arabia incorporating large transportation and constructional equipment fleets.
The results proved the applicability of the proposed system and yielded
high savings for both companies.
The Thesis incorporates five chapters as follows :
Chapter I : Includes literature review for the published work in the field of oil testing , fault tree analysis technique and PM.

Chapter 2 :Includes the design of the new preventive maintenance scheme which incorporates the five main components namely, field oil test,laboratory oil test ,Fault tree,data bases and check lists.Thc application technique of the proposed system is also included .

Chapter 3 : Includes the design of experimtens and how it was applied to the different case studies.

Chapter 4 : Includes all the results which were categorized into two groups ( group A & group B ) .

Chapter 5 : Includes final conclusions , recommendations and future
