Pulse Timing Stabilization of Ultrafast Mode Locked• Lasers

This thesis presents an examination of timing jitter problem in ultrafast, high repetition rate laser pulses. Key results were achieved by feedback technique. Piezoelectric crystal with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) as a passive mode-locking device and a phase detector device are used to r1duce timing jitter from tenth of picosecond down to sub picoseconds. Phase noise signal was examined here using a well known commercial system and then the performance was compared with the suggested system. Cr:LiSAF femtosecond laser system was designing and built and used in the present work.
