Bladder Training Techniques in Control of Nocturnal Enuresis for School Age Children

Abstract
Abstract
The aim of the current study was to assess the effect of bladder training techniques in control of nocturnal enuresis for school age children. Research design: A quasi experimental research design was used in this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Pediatric Urological Outpatient Clinic at Polak Eldakrour Hospital and Children Hospital, affiliated to Ain Shams University. Sample: The studied subjects composed of 57 children who had nocturnal enuresis and their mothers. Tools: tools for data collection are: (1) structured interview questionnaire (2) Follow up sheet. Results: Finding reveled that, 75.4% of the study sample their age ranged between 6-9 years old, 64.9% of the study sample were female, 96.5% of the study sample had jealousy from sibling, and there were a significant improvement in the nocturnal enuresis control of children after bladder training techniques. Conclusion The study concluded that, before implementation of the bladder training techniques for school age children with nocturnal enuresis, the majority of children had a higher number of bedwetting. Meanwhile, after implementation of the bladder training techniques there was appositive effect in decreasing the number of bedwetting and improvement of psychological status for the enuretic children. Recommendation: The study recommended that, Educational programs about bladder training techniques are needed for health care providers to ensure comprehensive care for the children.
