Abstract


ADHD is one of the commonest psychiatric disorders, with childhood onset which may persist till adulthood as a chronic trait- like symptoms. However, researchers suggest that the principal childhood symptoms change with development: hyperactivity often decreases by adolescence, attentional problems seem to be more constant, and impulsivity often changes into more obvious difficulties in executive functions.
As patients with ADHD grow older, inattention often persists throughout the lifespan, with decrease of concentration on detail, a need to re-read materials many times; mood changes shift rapidly into depression or excitability, irritability and temper outbursts that may interfere with personal relationships. They have difficulty in finishing tasks with lack of strategy and disorganization. Also, time management is so poor.
