EFFECT OF OPENINGS ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF R. C. (I) BEAMS UNDER TORSIONAL STRESSES
SALEH AHMED SALEH .;
Abstract
Transverse openings in beams for the passage of utility duct and pipes minimize the story height of a building resulting in a significant savings in material and construction costs. Several investigations have been carried out on reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete beams with web openings under the effect of bending, shear and torsion stresses. The inelastic behaviour of reinforced concrete (I) beams with web
openings under the effect of bending, shear and torsion stresses don't
!
have, as yet, received adequate research attention.
This research work was therefore carried out on' reinforced concrete (I) beams containing transverse openings under combined action
