Abstract


Role of Dual-durometer (Loop Double J) Ureteral Stent ;Morbidity and Impact on Quality of Life.
A prospective randomized study.
Objective:
To assess the dual-durometer (loop DJ) ureteral stent for morbidity and impact on life quality of patients with special concerns to irritative symptoms.
Patients and methods:
A prospective randomized study carried out on 20 patiens; Patients were divided into 2 groups randomly: Group A: (10 patients): Patients were inserted dual-durometer (Polaris) ureteral stent percuflex material 6F (2.0mm) × 26 cm over 0.035 inch guide wire through the cystoscope Group B: (10 patients): Patients were inserted variable lenghth flexima ureteral stent with hydroplus coating 6 Fr (2.0mm) × 26 cm long DJ ureteal stents were inserted directly over 0.035 inch guide wire through the cystoscope.
All patients were asked to complete the self-administered questionnaire in outpatient clinics to assess their symptoms that they experienced every week for 2 weeks after DJ insertion, immediately before DJ retrieval and 1 week after DJ retrieval.
Serum creatinine, Urine analysis, Pelvic- abdominal ultrasonography and Plain radiography (KUB) were done every week for 2 weeks after DJ insertion, immediately before DJ retrieval and 1 week after DJ retrieval for patients symptoms follow up.
Results:
The mean age for group A was 34.80 years and for group B was 36.2. The P
