SA FAA KAMAL MOHAMED ENAB;

Abstract

The work was carried out to investigate the possible anti

lipid peroxidation effect of vitamin E (a-tocopherol) in reducing the oxidant damage of exposure to asbestos or ionizing radiation.
The study was carried out on 44 workers exposed to asbestos and 28 workers exposed to ionizing radiation m addition 20 non exposed controls were included in the study.
Vitamin E at different doses had given to the exposed workers for seven weeks.
The results showed that the levels of MDA, SOD and MDA I SOD ratio were significantly lower after 7 weeks of daily administration of 400 mg or 600 mg of vitamin E. The study was also observed that the degree of reduction of levels of MDA was significantly higher among the groups of asbestos or radiation who received vitamin E in a dose of 600 mg I day
