INFORMATION GRANULATION AND STATlSTICAL DECISIONS

Neveen Mohamed Hassan Kilany;

Abstract

We all make decisions of varying importance every day, so the idea that decision making can be a rather sophisticated art may, at first, seem strange. However, studies have shown that most people are much poorer at decision making than they think. An understanding of what a decision making involves, together with a few effective techniques, will help produce better decisions. Every decision making process produces a fmal choice. It can be an action or an opinion. It is a being when we need something but we do not know what. Cornn1on examples included shopping, deciding what to eat, when to sleep and deciding whom or what to vote for in an election or referendum. Structured rational decision making is an important part of all science based professions, where specialists apply their knowledge in a given area to making informed decisions. For example, medical decision making often involves making a diagnosis and selecting an appropriate treatment.

Statistical decision analysis pertains to human decision making in a world of incomplete information and incomplete human control over events. It involves procedures for choosing optimal decisions in the face of uncertainty. They can help to reduce the risk of human errors. The elements revealed by the statistical decision analysis either explain the situation or prescribe, or simply privilege, some behavior in order to increase the coherence between evolution of decision process on the one hand and goals and value system of the actors, on the other hand .
