Abstract
The purpose of this dissertation is to design an in-service teacher training program lo ucvclop lwo major leaching skills or primary school EFL (non-specialist) teachers of English; namely, maintaining effective classroom management . and using different techniques to teach vocabulary. All the thirty-five non specialist EFL teachers who constituted the sample were randomly selected among the primary school teachers of English in North Sinai. They were assigned to a one treatment group. The study made use of three tools, namely: (1) two observation sheets (one for classroom management and one for teaching vocabulary) to evaluate the primary school teachers' teaching performance skills; (2) an achievement test to assess the cognitive aspects of the in-service EFL teachers' knowledge of the target two main teaching skills; and (3)a needs assessment questionnaires to select the most important teaching skills that are necessary for primary school EFL teachers to be trained on.
