Abstract

T he Gabapentin is showing day after day a successfulclinical trials results in the field of Anesthetic care, starting from reduction of the per operative anxiety, to reduction of the haemodynamic response to the direct laryngoscopy and intubation which may have a grave effect in the susceptible patients specially who suffer from Ischaemic heart disease. Also Gabapentin shows a satisfactory results in the clinical trials about its effect in the management of the acute and chronic post-operative pain in different types of operation ranging from general surgeries to orthopedic and gynecological operations. Gabapentin‘s role in management of the post-operative nausea and vomiting is so well so farto control an essential so annoying complaint by many patients and may lead to terrible sequels. Post-operative delirium it’s incidence was markedly reduced by the use of Gabapentin in the perioperative duration in the elderly population. In the near future the uses of Gabapentin may be expanded markedly and get to be an fundamental drug in the perioperative Anesthetic care.
