LASER IN SITU KERATOMILEUSIS FOR CORRECTION OF MYOPIA AND ASTIGMATISM

Abstract

The problem of correcting myopia and astigmatism still remain open and receiving world attention. Spectacle and contact lenses developed and improved to the point where they are highly successful and have few complications. However some patients require an improvement in their I uncorrected vision for cosmetic purposes, achieve certain job opportunities or to perform tasks that would preclude the use of them. I I I Over the last few years many alternative treatments have been I developed for patients with myopia and astigmatism including, radial I keratotomy, astigmatic keratotomy, excimer laser photorefractive

keratectomy (PRK), keratomileusis, clear lens extraction, phakic intra-ocular lenses and laser in situ keratomileusis.
