Abstract

The aim of this work is to evaluate the pre-rift Upper Cretaceous Brown limestone and Matulla Formations in Geisum area. in the southern part of the Gulf of Suez Egypt. The stratigraphic column of Geisum area consists of a thick clastic section overlaying the. Basement rocks and underlies a thick evaporite section. Tqis clastic section extends throughout the geologic time from Permo-Carboniferous (Nubia sandstone) to middle Miocene (Kareem Formation). It includes excellent reservoirs in both pre-Miocene (Brown limestone and Matulla Formations) and Miocene (Karcem Formation) in ac:ldition to a very good carbonate source rock in Campanian "Brown limestone Formation". The evaporite section represents an excellent cap rock. The available ciata obtained for interpretation are well log data a)ld some seismic sections distributed in the study area. These wells are Geisum A1, Geisum
A-2, Geisum w-1, Geisum w-3, Tawila N-1 and Gemsa SE-1.
