Mohanuned Hassn Ala1m Eldin;

Abstract

Male infertility is a common medical problem and some patients have specific defined conditions that make them either sterile or subfertil e.

Technical improvement in equipments such as the development of high resolution small parts and endoluminal ultiasonographic transducers allows to visualize and diagnose directly and non invasively the male genital organs, especially the distal part, disorders that are responsible for infertility.

This work included fifty patients with male factor infertility documented by at least three semen analyses. They tmderwent a thorough evaluation by history, clinical assessment, semen analysis and honnonal study. Testicular biopsy was performed to azoospennic patients only. All patients were examined by scrotal ultrasound (US), color flow doppler (CFD), pulsed doppler (PD) and TRUS.

Scrotal US revealed the presence of epididymo-orchitis in 13 patients, epidid)'lnitis in 2 patients, undescended testis that could be located in the pelvis in 2 patients, post torsion testicular atrophy in 3 patients and post traumatic testicular atrophy in one patient.

TRUS revealed the presence of seminal vesiculitis in 3 patients, seminal vesiculitis with prostatis in 2 patients, SV hypoplasia in one patient and ED obstruction in 6 patients.
