Removal of Some Industrial Dyes from Wastewater by Nanomagnetite-doped Chitosan as an Adsorbent

Hassnaa Mohammed Ahmed Abd EL-Latif;

Abstract

The object of this investigation is to study the feasibility and the efficiency of adsorbents in the removal of some industrial dyes from wastewater such as Amaranth dye (Acid dye) and Crystal Violet dye (Basic dye). The used adsorbents are; Chitosan (CS), Nano-magnetic chitosan (CuFe2O4/CS) and Extracted chitosan (CSH).
This thesis contains four main chapters and these can be summarized as follows:
 CHAPTER I: represents a general introduction and a literature review of recent publications related to the subject of this investigation which represent the scientific background of this thesis.
 CHAPTER II: Include materials, instruments, preparations and general procedures, advanced methods of analysis.
 CHAPTER III: Deals with the adsorbents' characterizations and the results obtained from this study with respect to the following:
• Chitosan is a strong adsorbent for the removal of Amaranth (anionic dye) and Crystal Violet (cationic dye) with removal ratio 99% for Amaranth and 91% for Crystal Violet.
• Nano-magnetic chitosan was prepared by sol-gel method an
