Heba Mohammed Mamdouh Mohammed Abbass;

Abstract

Every year there are an estimated 200 million pregnancies in the world. Each one of these faces the chance of an adverse outcome for the mother and the for the baby. Nearly 529,000 women between the ages of 15-49 die every year as a result of complications related to pregnancy or childbirth, exacerbated by existing poor health and inadequate care. Nearly all maternal deaths (99 percent) occur in the developing world-making maternal mortality the health statistic with the largest disparity between developed and developing countries.
