TAT ME ASUREMENT IN CHRONIC LIVER DISEASES AND ITS CORRELATION WITH OTHER COAGULATION PARAMETERS

HANY Mohammed EL-Haroun;

Abstract

Prothrombin fragment 1+2 and thrombin are products of prothrombin conversion by prothrombinase enzyme. Prothrom- bin 1+2 and thrombin antithrombin are normally found in plasma of healthy persons and at concentrations which reflect normal haemostasis. It was reported that there are higher concentrations of these markers in plasma of persons with venous thrombosis, arterial thrombosis and DIC. It was also observed elevated levels of TAT in the plasma of patients with HCC with decrease in antithrombin III. Plasma levels of TAT were found to be above 2 ng/ml in 80% of HCC patients and only in 12% of non-HCC patients.
