Relapse in Patients with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Rana Mohamed Mostafa El Shishtawy;
Abstract
SUMMARY
N
HL is the most prevalent hematopoietic neoplasm, representing approximately 4% of all cancer diagnoses and ranking 7th in frequency among all cancers. DLBCL is the most common type of NHL (42.5%). NHL is much less predictable and the prognosis depends on the histological type, stage, and treatment.
The potential curability of NHL varies among the different histological subtypes and is related in part to stage at presentation. There have been small gains in NHL survival rates, the 5-year relative survival rate of patients with NHL increased from 47% between 1975 and 1977 to approximately 71% between 2004 and 2010. These improvements in survival occurred mainly in patients with intermediate- to high-grade histologies.
The aim of this retrospective study was to correlate the occurrence of relapsed, refractory and in remission DLBCL patients to both clinic-pathologic features of the disease and line of treatment received and trial to subsequently assess follow up guidelines for the DLBCL patients presented to our department.
