CARTILAGE GRAFTING IN RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY OF CHRONIC SUPPURATIVE OTITIS MEDIA

Abstract
Numerous grafting materials could be used in tympanoplasty either autografts or homografts. Still, temporalis muscle fascia & perichondrium are the most common grafts to be used. In this study we used tragal or concha! cartilage as a graft material for tympanoplasty in addition to the previous two types. Sixty patients were included in this study & were classified according to the graft type into three groups (20 patients in each group). As a conclusion we found that cartilage had a better graft taking with the same audiological results in comparison to the other two types
