ENDOSCOPY IN PLASTIC SURGERY

Abstract

This work was started since 1995, 22 patients were operated upon utilizing the endoscopic facilities as a new technique in the plastic surgery. We operated upon different body regions. Literature was reviewed under many topics, the history of endoscopic surgery was followed with especial emphasis on the history of endoscopic plastic surgery and its evaluation then the endoscopic surgery set and instruments were described in a different chapter. The characteristics of each apparatus was written in an comprehensive way. In the following chapter we reviewed the anatomical basis of the endoscopic plastic surgery with a special concern to the optical cavity. Its dissection and how to maintain the cavity by different retraction devices, then we prescribed some anatomical features in different body regions we have worked upon such as the forehead, face and neck, the breast, the anterior abdominal wall, this was in brief. Some of the common endoscopic surgical techniques found in the literature were reviewed with a special concern to the aesthetic procedures spot lighting different author's techniques. The advantages and disadvantages, complications and limitations of the endoscopic plastic surgery procedures were reviewed in a separate chapter. In the chapter of subjects and methods we presented the instruments we used with its specifications and features. Then we started to show the patients. We have grouped the patients into 4 groups. Groups I, II and IV, contained subgroups.
