Impact of Scissors Type Used for Episiotomy on The Prevalence of Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injury: Randomised Controlled Trial

Abstract
The objective of this study is to compare the prevalence of OASIS between episiotomy cut by angled, straight and curved scissors.
So, we established a 3- armed randomized trial on pregnant women requiring a mediolateral episiotomy in the labour ward of Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital.
During second stage of labour, 300 pregnant women who were willing to participate in the study and gave informed consent and had a mediolateral episiotomy cut by angled or curved or straight scissors after randomization using opaque sealed envelopes.
