ENVIRONMENTAL AND MODELLING STUDIES INVOLVING RADIOACTIVE WASTES DISPOSAL

Abstract

The large production and wide used of radioactive isotopes in nuclear science increased the amount of radioactive wastes and thus r dioactive contamination of human being and his environment could occurred. In case of unexpected actions malfunction, maloperation or, such as physical actions (earthquake, geological. Feature...etc)
, release of radioactive materials from waste disposal site can

take different pathways to contaminate the environment and thus the
...human being. Corresponding studies on mathematical modelling of the different pathways of radioactivity to the environment are apparently scare in the literature. Some investigators conducted

a limited number of models using some meteorological, geological, hydrological data. Subsequent studies to determine both the different pathways of radioactivity from disposal site to the environment and the amount of activity at any depth and at any time are mostly rarely attempted.
The present work is divided into three parts

. The first part concerns the determination of attenuation factor for some metals. The second part deals with the attenuation factor of some radioactive materials using soil samples taken from three places till 15 m depth. In this part, the time of penetration of water through the studied soil samples was determined. The dispersion time of water through the soil was also investigated.
The third part concerns the mathematical models and
