APPLICATION OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT ON RESEARCH INSTITUTES IN EGYPT

Abstract

The aim of the thesis was to assess the importance of the implementation of the TQM in research centers through a questionnaire that includes eleven key items of the quality system elements.. The questionnaire was answered by individuals who are responsible for the implementation and management of Total Quality Management in their organization. The questionnaire was based on both the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) and ISO 9000 standards for quality systems. It was used in the assessment of eleven research centers. The analysis of the data gathered via the questionnaire showed that management commitment as the most important key component of the planned TQM system . Data analysis also revealed that implementation of TQM in the involved organizations will lead to an improvement in their performance.

Research Methodology

The number of research centers was extremely large. Therefore a subset of the target centers was selected for this study. The following research centers were involved in this study.
