Abstract

This study aimed to compare Safesider system and Protaper universal system regarding cutting efficiency and preservation of canal curvature.

Sixty acrylic resin blocks were fabricated and divided into two groups (n=30), and were instrumented using the two rotary systems:
Group A: Instrumentation using SafeSiders system.
Group B: Instrumentation using Protaper universal system.

Acrylic blocks were weighted before instrumentation to record pre-instrumentation weight. Then they were imaged with digital camera attached to stereomicroscope, images were analyzed using Image J computer program and measured by Schneider technique to determine the pre-instrumentation angles of curvature.
Safesiders group and Protaper group were instrumented according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Blocks were reweighted and re-imaged and to record the new values and differences were compared.
