STUDY OF THE CORRELATION BETWEEN CHLAMYDIA PNEUMONIAE INFECTION AND CORONARY HEART DISEASE

MOHSEN MOHSEN ADAM OMAR;

Abstract

Atherosclerosis, the mam cause of coronary artery disease and stroke, is now regarded as a vascular inflammatory process. Multiple studies report that C. pneumoniae is suspected to be an important causative organism of this inflammation, implying that the mortality and morbidity due to CAD and stroke could be reduced by treatment of this infection. The aim of our study was to find any correlation between the level of C. pneumoniae infection and certain acute phase reactants, and acute and chronic coronary artery disease.
