Abstract
T
he aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two final irrigants, CHX and MTAD after NaOCl as a primary irrigant, on the dentin permeability and the shear bond strength of the hydrophobic AH plus sealer.
In the first dentin permeability test: Thirty roots were divided into three groups randomly NAOCl, NaOC/lCHX and NaOCl/MTAD according to the irrigant used. The India Ink was injected in each root than the root was cut horizontally into 3 subgroups, coronal, middle and apical. Than the samples were observed under stereomicroscope with 25X magnification to evaluate the linear extent of the dye. Data for all samples were statically analyzed.
The results showed that CHX (group B) exhibited most dye penetration coronally than MTAD (group C) and NaOCl (group A) exhibited the least dye penetration.
All groups showed decreased dye penetration apically.
In the second Shear bond strength test: Fifteen roots were cut longitudinally along the long axis mesiodistally thus obtaining thirty samples, than the samples were divided randomly into three groups NAOCl, NaOC/lCHX and NaOCl/MTAD according to the irrigant used. Than the AH plus sealer was mixed and applied on the dentin surface inside a PVC ready -made tubes. Three tubes on each root half placed one on each third as three subgroups coronal, middle and apical.
The results showed that MTAD (group C) exhibited the highest bond strength than CHX (group B) than the least one was the NaOCl (group A).
