STRAWBERRY ROT DISEASES AND THEIR COTROL
Abeer Abdel-Rahman EL-Sayed EL-Ghannam;
Abstract
This investigation was carried out to survey and study the fungi associated
with rotted strawberry fruits in fields and markets and the factors affecting fruit rot incidence, i.e. cultivar resistance, virulence of pathogens, growth stages, inoculum potential, storage temperature and humidity. Moreover, changes in the activities of cellulolytic and pecteolytic enzymes in the rotted fruits were also investigated. Special attention in this research was directed toward the evaluation of some non conventional control measures other than chemicals, which have less environmental impacts, i.e. salts, antioxidants, plant oils and extracts and biocontrol agents
