EFFECT OF:DISPERSANTS ON THE REMOVAL OF OIL POLLUTION FROM SEA WATER

Ola Elsaycd Abdelwahab;

Abstract

The thesis presents the results of a study dealing with the effect of dispersants on the removal of oil pollution from sea water. It includes a literature search from which it was realized that a large number of testing methods can be readily cited. Analysis of data obtained from four of these tests for the same oiVdispersant system produced absolutely no correlation. This denotes a lack of cognizance of the governing fundamentals. In few occasions, however, efforts were made to explore specific points separately. A consolidated conception ofthe factors influencing efficiency measurements and their relations to pertinent physicochemical princioles ought to be developed in order to resolve t!Jis controversy. Ne;;lected, however, is ar: cff.Jrt to optimize these factors and to relate their behaviour to pertinent physical phenomena, which constitutes the objective of the current research.
