Naglaa El-Ahmadi Ghazala;

Abstract

In our present investigation we have studied effect of honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) strains on the collected amounts of propolis and pollen. Also, we studied some biological properties of propolis and pollen. The obtained results could be summarized as follows:
1- Propolis

The main topics which were taken in consideration in this study were:

1-1 The first year :

1-1-1- Effect of the honeybee strains on the collect amounts of propolis.
From the mean result of the xear (2003), the amounts of propolis

collected by F1 italian were (152.46 g./ colony). F1 camiolan collected (121.10 g/colony) and F2 camiolan collected (69.13 g/colony). The highest amount of propolis was gathered by Fl italian, during the year. The lowest amount of propolis was collected by F2 camiolan during the year. The general mean amounts. of collected propolis was 28.56 g/colony in 2003 year. There were significantly differences between the F I italian and camiolan hybrids (Fl and F2) and also, were significant differences between F1 camiolan and F2 camiolan.
1-1-2- EffeCt of different months during the year on the collected amounts of propolis.
The monthly mean amounts of propolis in 2003 year were 12.71,

10.09 and 5..76 g/colony for Fl italian, F1 camiolan and F2 carniolan with general monthly mean 9.52 g/colony.
