Abstract


Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental

Farm, Fac. of Agric., Kafr El-Sheikh, Tanta University, during

1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons to study the effect of nitrogen rate and planting pattern on yield and quality of sugar beet cv. Raspoly (multigerm).

A split plot design with four replications was used. The main plots were assigned to nitrogen rates and the sub-plot to planting
patterns as follows :



A. Nitrogen rates (main plots) :


Four nitrogen rates, i.e. 40, 60, 80 and 100 kg N/fad. in form

of ammonium nitrate (33.50% N) were used.



B. Planting patterns (sub-plots) :
