Recent Advances In Management Of Dislocation After Total Hip Replacement
Mohammed Gouda Ahmed;
Abstract
Dislocation after THA is considered one of the most common complications following THA, despite of the continuous progress in the prosthetic designs and materials. Dislocation after THA may be posterior, the most common, or anterior. It may occur early (in the first 6 months postoperatively) or late.
Etiology of dislocation is often multifactorial with difficult finding out of the real or the most common cause. These causes may be related to patient himself; such as patient compliance or the condition of the hip preoperatively, or related to the surgical technique; such as malpositioning of the components, soft tissue imbalance, or impingement of the prosthetic components with each other or with one of them with the bony pelvis.
