Metallogenic Studies On Wadi Fatira area, Eastern Desert, Egypt

Ramadan Gharieb Haroun;

Abstract

This thesis deals with geology, petrography, mineralogy and geochemistry ofFatira area. The exposed Rock units in the investigated area can be arranged from the oldest to the youngest as follow :
1. Metavolcanics :

The metavolcanics are widely•spread in the mapped area. They occur mainly in the center and at the north westem part of the studied area. Metavolcanics comprises metadoleritic basalt, metabasalt and meta-andesites.

The metadoleritic basalt is fonned essentially of plagioclase (Ailso-60) and augite. The secondary minerals are represented by calcite, quartz, sericite and chlorite - the porphyritic texture is the dominant.

Metabasalt comprises plagioclase (AI1so-6o), augite and lomprobolite (basaltic homblende). The secondary minerals are sericite, carbonate (calcite) and pennine chlorite, the accessory minerals are opaques (most probably iron oxides). The intergranular texture is very-conunon.
