PROS AND CONS OF MENTAL HEALTH LAW IN EGYPT

Abstract
This study aim to provide an overview on egyptian mental health law and its pros and cons unfortunately there is no previous work in this law which adopted six years ago in the new era of democracy & psychiatric development not only psychopharmacology but also social orientation not only in Egypt but also all Australian states , Israel, New Zealand, Canada, 44 states of the United States, Scotland and England which change their mental health act in last 2 decade .at the first we must know Egypt has mental health legislations since Forties of the last century where the first law done law 141\1944 that concerned with the community care & has frightened many and preoccupation with public safety seeking exerting more control over the patient through admission of patient in hospital to be protected from the patient behind walls for decade with minimal right and great authority of the patient family on him in addition to great complication for doctor in compulsory admission but the new mental health act 71\2009 give the patient all his rights and decrease his family control by many insurance just like independent evaluation
