Effect of Bougie Size on Outcome in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
Mohamed Elemam Elemam Elshawy;
Abstract
Bariatric surgery is an expanding and continuously evolving speciality aiming at combating the obesity epidemic through offering long term sustained weight loss.
Several restrictive procedures have been implied by surgeons all over the world, where, recently, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy has been gaining popularity over the other procedures.
The use of SG extended worldwide due to its major potential benefits, including its technical simplicity and significant weight-loss outcomes with acceptable rate of complications and mortality.
However, surgeons should understand the complications associated with LSG and an approach for dealing with them. Of the postoperative complications following LSG that need to be identified include bleeding, staple line leak and strictures.
Gastric leak most commonly occur at the upper staple
