EFFECT OF UNILATERAL BACK BAG CARRYING ON DYNAMIC BALANCE IN ADOLESCENT IDIOPATHIC SCOLIOSIS
SHAHESTA AHMED GHALLY;
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference in balance responses between AIS patients and normal subjects and to assess the effect of unilateral carrying backed pack loads at different proportions of body weight in both sides of the curve on dynamic balance in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis AIS .it is also to investigate the difference in limit of stability responses between AIS patients and normal subjects. Balance
response of ATS patients.
The study is conducted from August 2006 to May 2007, the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University. Two groups of subjects with age ranged from 13-20 years participate in the present study. The first group is AIS group which, include 30 patients (15 right & 15 left) female scoliosis with mean age (17.06 ±1.6). Each patient has his spinal ail.gle measured and his degree classified (mild/moderate).Each group is evaluated by Biodex Stability System (BSS) to measure medio-lateral (ML) stability indices in seven testing conditions and measure the limit of stability test.
