Abstract


Summary:

A smile can reflect the inner-self. As each smile is unique, a beautiful smile should be one that is so suitable to the face and character of each patient and that it should appear to be perfectly natural.
Nowadays we live in a beauty-conscious society with increased patients’ awareness. Also advancement in dental treatments such as veneers and bonding to tooth structure allowed the dentists to reach their goal of being as conservative as possible. Beside the advancement in CAD/CAM technologies all over the world and the chair-side solutions which allowed the dentists to complete and deliver ceramic restorations in the same visit.
So a systematic way is mandatory to allow the dentist during the treatment planning phase to decide the exact amount of teeth reduction needed and the shade and translucency of the restorations to be used in order to achieve the patient’s expectations without the unnecessary removal of tooth structure
