Abstract


The subject of the study is about privatization in Egypt, privatization was considered a basic feature of the economic reform process that started in Egypt I
in the early 1990's , it started as a precondition to the IMF and World Bank •I
assistance to Egypt .
This study discusses the different methods of privatization as well as its I advantages and disadvantages .It also looks into the privatization phases in Egypt where the first phase was seen as a failure posing many problems for• Egypt to handle and some reforms were made in the second phase.
In view of the growing concern about the process of privatization, it became I necessary to measure and evaluates the steps taken to make the shift to thel private sector in Egypt. The study also conducts a comparison between the steps of the Egyptian privatization program and that of countries of Central andj' Eastern Europe especially Poland where challenges that faced both countries are
illustrated.

The study was divided into four chapters: the first chapter includes the1 theoretical framework it focuses on defining privatization and the history of itJ appearance and its application in the world as well as discussing the positiveJ and negatives of applying privatization.
