AL-Shimaa Mahmoud Abdelsalam Ahmed El-Bakshishy;
Abstract
Postmenopausal bleeding (PMB) accounts for 5% of all gynecologic office visits. PMB must always be investigated because many causes may be premalignant or malignant.
D&C procedure itself, although highly diagnostic, yet it has many limitations, including the need for general anesthesia, being an invasive procedure with possible complications, and it samples less than 75 % of the uterine cavity in 84% of patients, less than 50% of the uterine cavity in 60% of patients and 10% - 35% of the endometrial lesion (as polyps) may be missed.
