There are many factors that affect the nutritional status of individuals.
This study is carried out to assess the nutritional status of some p eschool children in Shebin El-Kom and Metkhakan (rural and urban).

A study of (187) preschool children were randomly selected from

selected). The age of children was between (12: 36 months).

T:his study is carried out of:

1- Study the social economical of children (12: 36 months).

2- Assess the nutritional status of preschool children (12 : 36 months).

3- Find out the correlation between the previous variables and the nutritional status of preschool (12 - 36 months).
4- Study effect of working mother on the nutrition status of preschool

children (I2- 36 moths).
For each child data related to many parameter were collected.

These parameters included:

1- Demographic and socio-economic mcome data such as parents

I age, education, occupation, family size and rooms number.

2- Anthropometric measurements weight, height, ann circumference,

I head circumference, ann circumference muscle and triceps skinfold
were detennined
I • 3- Dietary intake was assessed using 24 hours recall for three days.

R sults revealed the following:

1- iDietarv Assessment:

I The mean caloric intake of both children who their mothers were
w rking and work were lower than RDA. The percentages were (91.6%
and 85.5 %) respectively.
