Oxygenation Parameters in Mechanically Ventilated Critically Ill Patients

Abstract

Measurements of arterial blood gases and pH are useful for initially evaluating pulmonary function in critically ill patients.Tension based indices driven from the ABG are of a good value in evaluation and assesment of pulmonary oxygenation and follow up in mechanical ventilated patients. Follow up of these tension based indices (A-a DO,, PaO,/PA02, PaO,/FiO,and A-a DO,fPaO,) was done in different stages and modes of ventilatory support and finally after complete weaning from mechanical ventilation.
