Nahla Abd El-Alim Radwan;

Abstract

One of the most economically important freshwater fish in Egypt, that peoples like to eat is Clarias gariepirw.s. The present research deals with one of the most common nematode parasites, Procamallarw.s laeuiconchus, infecting the stomach and intestine of this fish.

Morphological studies :

Scanning electron microscopy of P.laeuicochus added some fine diagnostic characteristics which were not
.. reported before such as; the presence of minute boss-like
papillae scattered around the two clow shaped lateral

papillae in the cervical region and two lateral fields that form continuous or discontinuous arrow bands with elevated rims on either side of the body. SEM also revealed the exact number and distribution of the male cloacal papillae; the presence of two phasmids at the tip of caudal end of male and the presence of the anal papillae in the female.
