Abstract

Lately alotofresearchworkwasfocusingonthe moleculesof thermo-metabolic stateinthyroiddisordersas Irisinhormonewhichsecretedbymyocytesandinfluence bodymetabolism andthermogenesisbyconvertingwhite adipose tobrownadiposetissue.

SowemeasuredIrisin hormonelevel in situation of different thyroiddiseases and correlate its level with creatine kinase a serummarker ofmuscledamage.

The study wasconductedon90subjectswhowere divided intothreegroups:

• Group1:30hyperthyroidpatients

• Group2:30hypothyroidpatients.

• Group3:30normalpersons.

Allsubjectsofthestudy weresubmittedtofullmedical history, throughmedicalexamination(Weight, Heightand BMI)andmeasurement offastingserum Irisin,TSH,Free T3,Free T4,CKandLDH.

Ourresultsshowedthat:

 Irisinhormonelevelishighlysignificantlydecreasedin hypothyroidpatients (16.60±4.07)Pg/mlincomparison withhyperthyroidpatients (26.83±7.95) Pg/ml(p<0.01).

 Irisinhormonelevelincreasedinhyperthyroidpatients (26.83±7.95)Pg/ml in comparison with normal persons (25.70±5.29) Pg/ml(p>0.05).

 Irisinhormoneleveldecreasedinhypothyroidpatients (16.60±4.07)Pg/mlincomparisonwith normalpersons (25.70±5.29) Pg/ml(p<0.01).

 Creatinekinaselevelishighlysignificantlydecreasedin hyperthyroidpatients(33.80±1.49)u/L incomparison withhypothyroidpatients(196.26±4.53)u/L(p<0.01).

 Creatine kinaseis highly significantly increased in hypothyroid patients(196.26±4.53)u/L in comparison withnormalpersons(62.86±1.63)u/L(p<0.01).
