EVALUATION OF SOME DIFFERENT SOILS FROM KAFR EL-SHEIKH UNDER DIFFERENT CROP PATTERNS
Ibrahim El-Sayed Ismail Nasr El-Din;
Abstract
Egypt recently has main two problems, access population pressure and limited arable areas. Therefore, the agricultural security depends largely on two main scheme, first, raising the productivity of existing cultivable land and second, adding new areas to these cultivable land. Such planning could be attained through land capability and evaluation studies. The study of soil properties and consequently land capability classification is essential to reach the optimum land use.
Therefore, the present investigation was carried out to study land evaluation from point of view land capability as influenced by the changes in the standard soil properties under different soil management (farming) practices as practiced by farmers, especially, under different crop patterns.
The present investigation aimed to:
1- Assess the changes in some soil properties under different management (farming) practices as practiced by farmers.
2- Use some of these changes in studying land evaluation from land capability point of view.
3- Determine whether selected land capability indicators (selected soil properties) could be used to detect the differences in land capability under different management (farming) practices as practiced by farmers, especially under different crop patterns, indicating that the selected soil properties were sufficiently sensitive to management to be useful indicators for land capability.
4- Reach the optimum land use, which could be attained through studying of soil properties and consequently land capability classification.
