Study of the correlation between von Willebrand's disease and Perimenopausal uterine bleeding

Abstract


This work started with a review of literature on dysfunctional uterine bleeding
'
(DUB), incidence, etiological theories, mechanism as well as pathophysiology.
The studies on the etiology of DUB have been focused on bleeding disorders especially von Willebrand's disease.



The aim oqhis work was to assess the frequency of von Willebrand's disease in women with perimenopausal uterine bleeding in absence of local pelvic lesion.
The study was carried on fifty women, their age varies between 10 and 49

years old complaining of abnormal uterine bleeding , not receiving any hormonal therapy at least for three months. Also, they were not using any mechanical or hormonal method of contraception.



The exclusive criteria were hypertension, diabetes ,liver diseases and those using anti-coagulant, anti-fibrinolytic or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
