DYNAMIC CONDYLAR SCREW IN MANAGEMENT OF SUBTROCHANTERIC FRACTURES

Abstract

Subtrochanteric fracture is defined as fracture between lesser trochanter & isthmus of the femur, others define it as fracture between lesser trochanter & 7.5 Cm below it. (H) Boyd & Griffm 1949 '11called attentio subtrochanteric fracture as a varient of peri­ trochanteric fracture & noted the high incidence of unsatisfactory results of operative treatment. These fractures account for lOo/o :15o/o of all hip fracture they have bimodal age distibution with low energy trauma in old age, high energy trauma in young age & usually associated with other injuries & fractures '11 .
