Role of High Resolution Ultrasonography and Power Doppler in Evaluation of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Abstract


Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) or compression neuropathy of the median nerve at the wrist is the most common form of peripheral entrapment neuropathy and it is particularly prevalent in middle-aged women. Although, it can be caused by many diseases most of cases are idiopathic.
This study was performed to evaluate the role of HRUS and power Doppler in the evaluation of CTS.
Our study was conducted upon twenty patients, 17 females and 3 males with age range from 27 to 65 years suffering from CTS disease duration ranged from 4 years to 12 years.
All patients were subjected to the following:
• History taking & clinical assessment.
• Nerve conduction study
• High resolution ultrasonography
• Power Doppler examination .
