Role of 8-isoprostane and advanced oxidation protein products in inflammation and oxidative stress during acute myocardial infarction

Shireen Fahmy Tawfik Ali;

Abstract

Heart failure is considered to be a complex clinical syndrome associated with alterations in the multiple neurohumoral systems and subcellular cardiac structures leading to abnormal cardiac function.Coronary heart disease (CHD) has been the leading cause of death for the last 10 years, as announced by the World Health Organization,accounting for 11.24% of all deaths in 2011. Its primary and secondary prevention is of great importance. AMI in general is related to the process of atherosclerosis of epicardial coronary arteries and its complications, such as thrombosis, bleeding within atherosclerotic plaques, and particularly plaque rupture. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia are associated with cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease, regardless of their diabetic status

The objective of this study was to assess the sensitivity and specificity of some biochemical parameters via evaluation of Cardiac Troponin I, Total creatine kinase, Creatine kinase isoenzyme MB, Total lactate dehydrogenase, Lipid profile via total cholesterol, HDL-c, LDL-c, VLDL-c, triacylglycerol, free fatty acid (FFA), plasma glutathione peroxidase, 8-isoprostane, AOPPs, C-reactive protein, Total homocysteine, soluble intercellular and vascular adhesion molecules-1 (sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1), sE-selectine for the early detection of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with and without acute hyperglycemia and hypercholesterolemia. Also, to focuses on the association between the best early markers of oxidative stress and inflammation.
